The European Investor’s Tax & Broker Toolkit
The two documents I use before every ETF purchase: a country-by-country tax cheat sheet for 30+ European jurisdictions, and the one-page broker due-diligence checklist that stops you opening the wrong account.
Get the Toolkit — €19 →What is inside
- 30+ European countries on one sheet each: dividend tax, capital-gains tax, the accumulating-vs-distributing rule, and any deemed-disposal or annual-taxation trap (Ireland, Denmark, Germany’s Vorabpauschale, the Dutch Box 3…)
- Which fund domicile recovers the most US withholding for your country
- The allowance to fill first (Sparer-Pauschbetrag, PEA, ISA, ISK and the rest)
- The 12 questions to answer before you fund any account: regulator, compensation scheme, securities lending, FX conversion cost, PRIIPs access, custody chain
- Red flags that disqualify a broker outright
- Space to score two brokers side by side — the same sheet behind every broker review on this site
Who this is for
European investors buying UCITS ETFs who want the tax and broker decisions settled rather than researched from scratch on twelve tabs. If you have ever wondered whether accumulating or distributing is right for your country, whether an Irish or Luxembourg fund pays you more, or whether the broker you are about to fund is safe — these are the two pages that answer it.
It is not for US-based investors (different tax system entirely) and it is not investment advice — it is the reference material, kept current, that I use myself.
